A 4 year old boy with a rare disease, Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome (WAS) that is characterised by eczema, low platelet count and immune deficiency has been successfully treated with an unrelated cord blood transplant and 14 months post-transplant he is now free of eczema and bleeding episodes.
