As a new year dawns things are looking bright for regenerative medicine. In 2017 we saw the work of scientists specialising in umbilical cord blood and tissue stem cells celebrated and nurtured with awards and grants; a new business established to protect families against the costs of stem cell treatment; the successful launch of World Cord Blood Day; and, more important than all of these things, in 2017 cord blood stem cells were used to treat a greater variety of diseases and conditions than ever before.
With new trials underway and exciting new research emerging it seems likely that 2018 will see more patients treated with cord blood stem cells than ever before, and for a wider range of conditions.
