What if my midwife refuses to collect cord blood?

Cord blood and tissue collection is less common in the UK than in other parts of the world and not all midwifes are trained in the process

If your midwife would like advice or support in collecting your baby’s cord blood or tissue, we are only too happy to speak to them in person and to provide additional information and guidance.

You may not know which midwife will attend your child’s birth, or your midwife may prefer not to make this collection.

This is no problem. Simply call us and we can arrange for a phlebotomist to collect the cord blood and tissue sample when your baby has been born.

There is an additional fee for this service.
